Choosing the right vacuum cleaner: how to do it accurately

Sharing is caring!

If you have respiratory complaints or a dust mite allergy, choose a vacuum cleaner with a good HEPA air filter and a high suction power. HEPA is an abbreviation for High-Efficiency Particulate Absorbing. The filter purifies the air that is blown out again by the vacuum cleaner. The quality of a HEPA filter is indicated by a number. The higher that number, the better. A HEPA13 filter is, therefore, better than a HEPA12 filter. Some of dyson big ball canister vacuum has an auto-clean filter function. Work is also being done on techniques where filters are no longer required.

Many vacuum cleaners are provided with vacuum cleaner bags, but in addition to this traditional vacuum cleaner with bag, most brands nowadays also have a number of dust-free (cyclone) vacuum cleaners in their range. The advantage of a dust-free vacuum cleaner is clear: you do not have to replace or purchase vacuum cleaner bags. The disadvantage is that you have to empty the dust container manually, which can be a dusty job.

Finally, the amount of noise that a vacuum cleaner makes can also be important to you. If you are looking for a silent vacuum cleaner, choose one that produces no more than 60 decibels (dB).

The different types of vacuum cleaners

The classic horizontal vacuum cleaner is called a sled vacuum cleaner. This consists of a part with motor and dust container, which is connected to the handle and dust nozzle with a hose. The large variant of the sled vacuum cleaner is called the boiler vacuum cleaner. This model generally has more content and is therefore especially interesting for those who have a large house or vacuum cleaner more often. Boiler vacuum cleaners can often vacuum dry or wet – real vacuum cleaners. A true vacuum cleaner, also known as a vacuum cleaner, can only suck wet.

With a handle cleaner, all parts are processed in and around a handle. The dust container is, therefore, smaller than that of a sled vacuum cleaner. The handle cleaner is therefore especially suitable for small spaces or vacuum cleaning jobs in between. Handle vacuum cleaners are cordless. That means that you have much more freedom while vacuuming, but also that you have to take into account a limited battery life.

On average, the battery of a steel vacuum cleaner lasts around 20 minutes. Some models are equipped with a removable petty thief; this is then called a 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner. You can of course also purchase a crumb vacuum cleaner separately, as a supplement to your (sled) vacuum cleaner. The content is too small to vacuum an entire floor, but such a mini vacuum cleaner is ideal for tucking away a few crumbs.

A robot vacuum cleaner: You only have to release on the floor, all the work is done for you. The big advantage of a robot vacuum cleaner is, of course, that you don’t have to worry about it. The disadvantage is that you have to clean the floor very well in advance. Robotic vacuum cleaners can get stuck in cords or ‘choke’ in cat toys or the laces of your swinging shoes.
